About FAMS
Folio Academy is a make-up and skincare teaching academy offering one-on-one training for all ages, experience and abilities.
Offered at our private, bespoke Folio Studio in Lower Parkstone, clients can choose from a variety of make-up and skincare courses, ranging from a 3-hour Master Class to an in-depth professional MUA course.
Folio Academy also incorporates Folio Bridal and Folio Faces, a well established make-up, hair and photographic studio specializing in make-overs and photoshoots for weddings, portraits, special occasions, musicians' and corporate promos and general events.
Robyn and Clare at Folio Academy use exclusive skincare and make-up products that are hypoallergenic, suitable for all skin types and are not tested on animals.
Robyn
Robyn lives in Poole with her family and their dog.
Robyn was born in London and has lived locally since the age of 15. Robyn studied a 3 year advanced Hair Dressing and Beauty Therapy Course at Bournemouth College of FE which she followed by undertaking make-up jobs for local Hair Dressers including Mane Street, Level and Mark Young, entering hair dressing competitions such as Wella Vogue and the Loreal Colour Trophy.
Over the coming years Robyn went on to open her own Make-up and Photography Studio providing ‘forever’ images of her client’s new looks. She has provided make-up for numerous weddings, travelling to Jamaica, Italy and all over the British Isles. Her clientele have including make-overs for GMTV’s Lorraine programme, theatrical make-up and various TV and magazine work.
Robyn returned to university to study 'Make-up for TV, Theatre and Film', graduating from the course in December 2018.
Having met Clare 25 years ago when commissioned by Clare’s Father to pamper the ladies for a Masonic Ladies Night, Robyn and Clare connected with their passion for make-up as well as forming a life-long friendship.
Robyn always liked the idea of forming a professional, approachable make-up academy and together with Clare’s experience and enthusiasm (FAMS) became a reality in September 2018.
Clare
Clare lives in Bournemouth with her family and her 2 cats.
Born in London, Clare moved to the area with her family at the age of 10 and has continued to live locally for the past 40 years – apart from a 9 year period when she moved to Scotland for her husband’s work.
Clare has been an ‘unofficial’ MUA for the past 25 years. Her background as a backing vocalist for various local bands allowed her to express her make-up abilities when performing at gigs and festivals. She was also called upon to do hair and makeup for bandmates and other musicians.
Although Clare’s official career has been working in an office environment both locally and in Scotland – she has continued to provide make-up for a variety of clients for weddings, functions and performing arts.
Clare returned to university at AUB to study 'Make-up for TV, Theatre and Film', graduating from the course in December 2018.
Her long standing friendship with Robyn, spanning 25 years, culminated in the idea to start their own make-up academy (FAMS) in September of 2018. The thought process behind setting up the academy was to offer clients of all ages and abilities a bespoke training package covering in-depth skincare and a full range of make-up styles to suit everyone.
